Stack

Daylight, still freezing outside. The smokestack takes on a magic quality when I go out to walk the dogs in our alley. Two blocks away, directly up the alley is this old smokestack from a long abandoned power plant for Mapleton Rehabilitation Center which used to be a tuberculosis home. It catches the first morning light and holds onto the sunset a few minutes longer than anything else. Late at night and very early in the morning there is an owl who hoots from somewhere up by the smokestack, the steam coming from the current powerplant next door adds to the ambience- our neighborhood.

Back Home Again

Back home again, Dolly prepares another top-shelf dinner as a hanger-on from Halloween peers out the window. Eleven days, untold relatives, endless presents... and so this is/was Christmas?

Winter Vision

Dreary, cold January day- Martha's Vineyard Ferry.
There's something about travel, being separated from one's normal routine, it really doesn't have to be a tropical paradise, just that removal, in that, one can obtain a clearer vision.
