Photo Montages at ARMA Museum, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia
The five selected works on display at the Agung Rai Museum of Art in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia (http://www.armamuseum.com/). I have an entire wall full of my pieces, it is very humbling and makes me quite happy, my first museum show!
These works will be on display through January 8, 2011- go see them if you are in Bali or tell any friends going over there! If anyone has any connections in Asia I would love to see them go to another museum or gallery after this show- any ideas anyone?
All the work reflects some aspect of life in Bali, all are quite large (~40"x60"), all are framed in black wood with glass over prints. They come in signed, limited additions of seven prints. If you are interested, prices are $1600 (US) up to $1950, great for a vacation home, restaurant or hotel!
Thanks for looking, my friends rule!!!

ARMA Museum dancers
Boys learning the culture of dance at the Agung Rai Museum of Art. Sponsored by arts patron Agung Rai, all children in the community can take classes in art, dance and music at the museum free of charge, pretty amazing for parents who earn $3.50 per day.

The King of Peliatan
His royal highness of Peliatan is adored by his family and subjects- gone, but certainly not forgotten, his memory lives on and his soul goes on forever.

Cremation Tower
Surging towards the cemetery temple, throngs of white t-shirted men carry the cremation tower through the streets of downtown Peliatan. Thick with people, the streets ooze with zealots celebrating and observing. More than at any time in my life I felt vulnerable to the possibility I would be caught in a push and be trampled by the masses of people. One only had to lift their feet up, the pushing from behind propelled you further towards the cemetery; an analogy for life? All things must pass.

Royal Cremation Ceremony
Decorative costumes and finery dominate the royal cremation ceremony in Peliatan, Bali. Death is perhaps the most elaborate of rituals, particularly for royalty, with the soul beginning its journey first to the sea, then to the holy mountain.

Robbie
A shameless excuse to put a family snapshot in here- Robbie, my nephew, examines the latest offerings from Lotus at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut. Get this; he likes trucks and tractors too, can you believe that?

Arch 11
The good folks over at Arch 11 Architecture recently won an honour for their work featured in the online blog "The Contemporist.com." Getting picked up by various architectural rags around the globe happened to be a nice perk from that exposure. Here's the crew at one of their latest projects, which, of course, is bound to win another set of accolades.

Ghoul
Saw this guy along the road and ran as fast as I could in the opposite direction. He knew something I didn't and I didn't want to wait and see what was going to happen!

Eight Bar Ranch III
The Calving Shed, perched on the rim of the Colorado River below the Flattops. Perfect mornings eating breakfast on that front porch, watching our new little critter "Ringo" eat dead, dried up chipmunks then try to run away with his booty when it grossed us out too much.

Eight Bar Ranch II
An old friend, put out to pasture after years of working. Out there with the coyotes and bears, slowly becoming part of the landscape.

RING-OH!
Grace's favorite Beatle, Ringo wore this VERY ring in the film "Help." She was very happy that we were the winning bid in a Sotheby's auction for this famous artifact. So happy, in fact, that we named our new Border Collie puppy after that famous Mr. Starkey.

Workin' for Us Boulder Folks
Under siege by wildfire, these guys are so damned brave. Grace takes a second to give her thanks, so did I- thanks again fellas!

Not What You'd Like to Wake Up To
Wildfire just west of us in Four Mile Canyon. Aggressive fire, very dry conditions, rugged terrain- recipe for disaster. Homes lost, forest burnt; thanks to the firefighters helping us all, keep the faith.

Old School Pool
Grace takes the plunge down the ancient slide in Eldorado Springs pool. A resort since the beginning of the last century with a large mineral springs pool, "Eldo" is a welcome relief on a warm summer day. The whole theme is "retro" with old signs from years ago, a decidely downscale snack bar, and no real "modern" upgrades. The slide is a thrilling accent; all metal with layer upon layer of rustproof paint, you wonder "how can this kind of thing still be in the age of lawsuits and modular plastic?" But there it is, over in the shallow end of the pool, and the ride is really quite exciting- go ahead, try it sometime... I dare you!

Not So Treacherous Waters
Dolly carefully negotiates a primitive bridge over a late summer creek just below the Indian Peaks. In June this would be a tricky little crossing but by late August- a walk in the park!

KOC
When I was a kid my friend Michael Ross brought me to the annual Knights of Columbus Fair in a vacant field up by Waveny Park. I so wanted to go on the swings ride there that I lied to his parents when they asked me if I had been on that ride before- "Yes Mr. Ross, my dad always lets me ride the swings at carnivals." Good job kid, live dangerously.
Dolly illustrates here the virtues of a warm summer afternoon at the amusement park and what it can do for a person, love those swings!

Saturday Night at the Races
Matthew and Henry get pumped up for some serious stock car racing at the Colorado National Speedway. The most intense of the races was by far, the figure eight where all the cars bomb around a figure eight shaped track at speeds of 90 mph as they come within inches of t-boning the other guys crossing the "x" in the eight- whew!!!

Ninety
Did you ever think you would be ninety years old? Same sense of humor, same smile, what a great father and grandfather you are.
Happy Birthday big guy!

Sweep those Cubs!
Sunday afternoon at Coors Field, killer seats 14 rows up from third base, the Rocks pull another one off and defeat those cursed Cubs. Grace loves "Tulo," the second baseman, who's mentor and hero is none other than Derek Jeter. Her Rockies shirt has number 2 on the back with "Tulowitski" spelled out. Every time the Rocks took to the field she was down along the fence waving the shirt, shouting out "TULO!"

Conundrum
The view from inside Jordan's cabin. After almost forty years of living on the mountain without electricity, propane, running water other "modern" conveniences, life is still magical for Jordan. Going out for a bike ride, cutting firewood, gathering water- he is a Zen monk of simplicity with a sly smile and a hearty laugh. Long may you run my friend!

There exists that place for all of us where the "normal" rules of perception are altered, closer to heaven, difficult to pin down- the land of our dreams.

The Admiral
Saw this guy watering his lawn on July 4, went up and asked if I could take his photo. He told me about the history of his house and his involvement in the area captaining nuclear submarines for thirty years, nice guy. Turns out, I find out later he was no captain, he was an admiral- pretty cool (sly devil)!
